JPI TO MANAGE THE TOWERS AT UNIVERSITY TOWN CENTER
UNIQUE COLLEGE STUDENT RESIDENCE IN HYATTSVILLE, MD 910-Student Residence Tops Out
University Town Center (UTC) in Hyattsville, MD has selected JPI of Dallas, Texas to manage The Towers at University Town Center, its 16-story student residence for 910 college and graduate students. The building, part of UTC’s nearly 2 million square foot mixed-use expansion, will be one of only two student residences in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to lease by the bed, according to JPI.
Ground was broken for The Towers in 2004 and has just topped out. It is expected to be open for the 2006-2007 school year and to attract many students from the University of Maryland’s College Park (UMCP) campus, which is less than one mile away. The student building is also expected to draw students from Catholic University and Howard University, both just a few minutes away by Metro.
UMCP students can utilize a special shuttle bus service between UTC and the College Park campus or can cross the street to Metro’s Prince George’s Plaza station to reach other colleges and universities.
At the new UTC residence, each student will lease a single bedroom with its own private bath. Furnished suites will have either two or four-bedroom configurations, with a shared a living area, dining area, kitchen, high-speed Internet connection, and washer-dryer.
Students living at UTC will enjoy unsurpassed building access controls and amenities. The building will include its own, party room, exercise room, computer lab, swimming pool, gardens, and access controlled parking. The Towers’ access control system and lobby assistants will allow residents to identify visitors before permitting entrance either to the building or to the residential floors. All public rooms, apartments and individual bedrooms will also have electronic access controls. Rental rates will be competitive with current off-campus dormitory charges at area universities.
“We selected JPI because of its extensive experience in leasing and managing student housing,” said UTC President Herschel Blumberg. JPI (www.jpi.com) has managed over 33,000 student beds in more than 20 states nationwide. |
